A BIN (Bank Identification Number), also called an IIN (Issuer Identification Number), is the first 6 to 8 digits of a payment card number. It identifies the card network (such as Visa or Mastercard), the issuing bank, and the card program (credit, debit, or prepaid). Modern cards use 8-digit BINs under ISO 7812.

Among the issuers tracked here, BARCLAYS BANK PLC (720), CITIBANK, NATIONAL ASSOCIATION (487), BANK OF INDIA (458), ECOBANK NIGERIA PLC (444), and UNITED BANK FOR AFRICA PLC (430) hold the largest BIN portfolios. Note that some of these totals are combined across every country the issuer operates in, since not every source registry breaks BIN counts out by country.

The Type column in each bank's BIN table shows whether the range is assigned to a Credit, Debit, or Prepaid card.
